:: Services

We are a full service clinic offering medical treatment and consultation, routine checkups and vaccines, laboratory analysis, radiology, and dentistry. Westbay Animal Hospital was the first veterinary hospital in the Bradenton area to offer laser surgery. Drs Scroggins and Smart have over 5 years experience with the laser and are current members of the Veterinary Surgical Laser Society. They regularly attend VSLS meetings to obtain current information on laser techniques. The CO2 Accuvet laser can be used for many types of surgical, ophthalmologic, and dental procedures and is an option given to the pet owner. Declaw surgeries on cats are performed exclusively with the laser and offers superior post-operative recovery.

:: General Health

Having an annual wellness exam and discussing what immunizations are appropriate for your pet may be one of the most important things you ever do for your pet. Control of internal and external parasites is equally important for your pet’s health and the health of human family members. We can advise what is best for your individual pet.

Animal medicine has made great strides in recent years and is giving pets much longer and more trouble free lives. We look forward to helping you enjoy the happiness that a healthy pet can provide.

We invite you to allow Westbay Animal Hospital to become you partner in providing the finest in health care of your pet.

:: First Visits

During your first visit, you will notice we provide separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs.

When bringing your pet in for a checkup, remember they may be a little uneasy about new people and animals. This is one of the reasons we ask that you restrain your pet before coming into the hospital.

We require pets be placed on a leash or in a pet carrier before entering the waiting room. If needed, leashes and carriers can be provided for use during your visit. Your pet and others in the waiting area will appreciate the extra care.

If you think your pet has a contagious disease you should call us first with details. We may request your pet to wait outside for a short time.

Please bring any medical records provided for a new pet or from another veterinarian.

:: Hours & Appointments

Our normal business hours are:
Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 6:00pm
Saturday from 8:00am to 12:00pm

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures we operate primarily by appointment.

Like humans, pets do not synchronize their illnesses with an appointment book and surgical procedures sometimes take longer than planned, so an occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time and a phone call is appreciated if an appointment needs to be rescheduled.

:: Emergency Service

Emergency service is available on a 24-hour basis. We will make every effort to respond quickly to your call for help. However, should the doctor be unable to contact you promptly or in the event you pet needs immediate intensive care, you may be referred to the Animal E.R.

Animal E.R. is fully staffed and is open for emergency care Monday through Friday from 6:00pm to 7:30am. For weekends and holidays they have 24-hour service. Animal E.R. is located at 8239 Cooper Creek Boulevard off of University Parkway. Their phone number is 941-355-2884

:: Medications

The wrong medications at the wrong time can be very detrimental to your pet’s health.

Always follow the directions on you pet’s medication precisely. Use only medicine that has been previously prescribed by a veterinarian and KEEP ALL MEDICATIONS OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN AND PETS.

Do not give human medication to your pet without first consulting the veterinarian. Some common human medications can be highly toxic to pets.

:: Hospitalization & Visits

For the safety of all hospitalized pets in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up-to-date.

Visits are permitted at our discretion only – a constant flow of people tends to excite all pets in the ward.

All pets are discharged during normal business hours Monday through Saturday.

We make every effort to make sure all fees are fair and reasonable. You are encouraged to discuss charges before services are rendered. Estimates will be provided upon request.
